Meina Determan
President
Meina Determan is a 3rd-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy. She is originally from Sasebo, Japan but has resided in Kingsville for the past 10 years during which she also attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville. During her first year of pharmacy school she was an active member of SSHP and was also the Advocacy co-chair and last year served as president-elect. Now as president for the 2023-2024 academic year, she will be continuing to serve SSHP by helping the organization grow, serve members and the community, and share the mission of ASHP and TSHP. Along with SSHP she is also involved in the Phi Delta Chi Pharmaceutical Fraternity and Phi Lambda Sigma. During her free time she enjoys reading, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family.
Oscar corona
Vice President
Oscar Corona is a 3rd-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy on the College Station campus. During his undergraduate career, he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from University of Houston - Downtown in his hometown of Houston, Texas. His professional background consists of over 5 years of experience as a certified pharmacy technician and is currently an inpatient pharmacy technician at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. His clinical and professional passions include pediatrics, critical care, and pharmacy administration and leadership. Oscar has previously served as Co-Chair of the Advocacy Committee during his first year of pharmacy school. Now as Vice President-Elect, he will oversee SSHP committee chairs and assist the Vice President in their responsibilities. Outside of his responsibilities, he enjoys exploring different cities, hanging out with friends and family, and binge-watching Netflix.
Cecilia Cuevas-Ramirez
President-Elect
Cecilia Cuevas-Ramirez is a 2nd-year student pharmacist at the Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy. She attended the University of Houston main campus where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Public Health with a minor in Biology. She is a Certified Pharmacy Technician with H-E-B where she has now began her summer internship as a Pharmacist Intern. After graduation, she plans to continue growing her professional career with the company or complete a PGY1 Residency with a focus on Pediatric or Psychiatric Pharmacy. She would like to continue promoting and advocating for patient care.
William Pham
Vice President-Elect
William Pham is a 2nd-year professional student pharmacist at Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy. William Pham, born and raised in El Paso, Texas, completed his pharmaceutical prerequisite courses during his undergraduate years at Texas A&M University. William Pham’s first year at the School of Pharmacy consisted of serving multiple leadership roles such as the Advocacy Co-Chair for SSHP, Fundraising Chair for APhA, and Chaplain for Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. As Vice President- Elect of SSHP, he will oversee SSHP’s committee chairs and assist the Vice President in their responsibilities. Currently, Mr. Pham hopes to one day pursue a future in Ambulatory Care at a Hospital or work in the VA with the Navy to help one day give back to his community.
Ellie kang
VP of Programming
Ellie is a 3rd-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy. Ellie was an active member of SSHP serving as a Medication Safety Committee Chair her first year and as Vice President of Programming her second year. Currently, she is pleased to serve once again as SSHP's VP of Programming, where she coordinates and oversees all programing and competitions within the organization. Additionally, Ellie is Vice President for American Pharmacists Association (APhA), Secretary for both Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS) and Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP), and Treasurer for Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP). Currently, Ellie strives to pursue a residency upon graduation and finds herself drawn to specialize in Infectious Disease and Critical Care, but is open to all opportunities that may come her way.
Kari blackwell
VP of Membership
Ms. Kari Blackwell is a 3rd-year pharmacy student and graduate of Texas A&M University with both a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science and a Masters in Healthcare Administration. After a 13-year career in healthcare leadership, she made the decision to pursue a career in pharmacy to get closer to serving patients. As the VP of Membership for SSHP, she works to encourage others to join the organization and begin building a network that will serve them throughout their career. She looks forward to mentoring others and encouraging both personal and professional growth.
Melanie Pena
Secretary
Melanie Peña is a 3rd-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy. Prior to attending Texas A&M, she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. Melanie served as SSHP's Academic Committee Chair during the 2022-2023 school year, a position that showed her how much SSHP values molding students into well-rounded, capable, and prepared health-system pharmacists. Melanie enjoys being a Supplemental Instruction Leader, a position which gives her the opportunity to tutor P1s and P2s and guide them on their academic journey. She plans to pursue residency after graduation and holds interests in psychiatric, pediatric, and critical care pharmacy.
Alexander adeoye
Treasurer (KV)
Alexander Adeoye is a 3rd-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy. Originally from Austin, Texas, Alex obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas State University where he then went on to pursue a career in pharmacy by initially working with CVS Pharmacy and has been an intern with them for two years. Alex has been involved with SSHP since his P1 year and took on the role of treasurer for SSHP his P2 year. Outside of SSHP he is a member of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity and the American Pharmacist Association with plans of pursuing a career in ambulatory pharmacy as well as other routes in the pharamcy field.
Arden trimier
Treasurer (CS)
Arden Trimier is a 3rd-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy. She is from Houston, Texas and received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from Texas Tech University. Arden became a SSHP member during her first year which enhanced her interest in health-system pharmacy. She was an Antibiotic Awareness and Immunization Committee Chair (2022-2023) in her second year and now serves as Treasurer to coordinate funds. She is also Treasurer of Student National Pharmaceutical Association and a member of American Pharmacists Association and Kappa Psi. She is interested in a variety of fields in pharmacy.
Carissa Gomez
Public Relations (KV)
Carissa Gomez is a 3rd-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M Irma Rangel School of Pharmacy. She was born and raised in Edinburg, Texas. Carissa obtained an Associates Degree in Pre-Pharmacy from South Texas College in McAllen, Tx. She served as a SSHP Medical Safety Committee Officer as well as a Social Committee Officer during the 2022-2023 school year. During her time as the Kingsville Board Member of the Medical Safety Committee, Carissa organized numerous successful patient care events at the local Kingsville Farmers Market, where students provided health services such as blood pressure and blood glucose screenings. Carissa was nominated CC Member of The Year. She plans to pursue a residency after graduation.
Shelby Ruggles
Public Relations (CS)
Shelby is a 2nd-year pharmacy student at Texas A&M Irma Rangel School of Pharmacy located on the College Station campus. Her hometown is Waco, Texas. She enjoys spending her free time with her friends at the pool, hiking on trails, or thrift shopping in downtown Bryan. She hopes to go into ambulatory care after graduation.
